The Welder has primary responsibility is tig and mig welding of aluminum and steel (also, stainless steel) parts. Each job must be run with safety, accuracy, and timeliness in the welding area. Performs a variety of welding to complete structural repair and fabrication on various bodies. Designs and fabricates metal components and structures to improve existing designs and reliability. Inspects and performs routine maintenance on light, heavy and specialized equipment.
RESPONSIBLITIES:
A successful candidate will be responsible for performing welding operations. Loads, unloads parts and weldments in a variety of welding fixtures, depending on the production team needs. Reviews blueprints drawings to ensure proper weld. Prepares welding equipment for proper usage and prepares the layout of equipment to perform as needed. Welding equipment may include but is not limited to operating a plasma cutter, oxy acetylene torch, welders, power tools, air tools, band saw, and iron worker. Candidate must have the ability to work independently as well as in a team setting and assure that welds are at our quality standards and product specifications. Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Graduate, Knowledge of welding basics and parts of the welder.
Experience with welding wires, gas, material thickness, and basic mathematical skills.
Experience with Mig, Tig, flux core welding preferred. GMAC GTAW and FCAW
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in producing quality parts using welding fixtures in a fast-paced environment.
Related technical ability and good understanding of production processes and equipment
Ability to work well in stressful situations
Good verbal and written communication skills, and ability problem solving skills
Ability to read and understand blueprints and weld symbols
Experience in heavy and light steel fabrication and welding
Use of precision measuring tools and instruments, i.e. scales and calipers
Weld various parts together as required by blueprint
Comprehend orders and operation procedures
Identify bad welds and correct problems accordingly
Lift heavy objects up to 75 pounds with assistance
Occasionally weld in awkward positions, such as bending, stooping, leaning, crouching, pulling, and pushing. Ability to stand for long periods of time
Change tips on cutting and welding equipment
Change gas and wire on welder as needed
Change grinding bits, pads and stones as needed
Other miscellaneous duties as requested
